Microsoft says it will not license its trademark to Trump’s U.S. trademark

Microsoft is refusing to license its trademarks to President Donald Trump’s United States trademark, the company said Tuesday.

The move comes amid growing criticism from the president, who has called Microsoft’s move to remove Microsoft from his 2020 reelection campaign an infringement on his rights.

Microsoft said Tuesday that it would be ending its support for Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign after the president’s attorneys sent the company a letter asking it to stop using the presidents trademark on products.

The company said it will be continuing to sell products that feature the word Windows 10, the version of Windows currently installed on devices.

The move follows the president criticizing Microsoft’s decision to remove Windows 10 from its computers and smartphones, calling it a violation of the law. In a statement, Microsoft said it would continue to work with the Trump transition team on licensing its products, such as Windows 10 Mobile and the Xbox, to help build a better America.

Microsoft has been a vocal supporter of Trump and his agenda in the past, and it is one of the few companies that does not plan to change its business practices to support the president.

In January, Microsoft announced a partnership with the Presidents American Business Council to support its new tax incentives for small businesses, including the expansion of the Business Start-Up Tax Credit.

Microsoft also announced plans to partner with the president to promote digital skills training for U.K. students and offer support to small businesses.
