The US Patent and Trademark Office, a branch of the US Department of Commerce, reported that the US exported $3.5 billion worth of world trade in goods and services in 2017, an increase of $600 million from 2016.
The number of trademarks in use worldwide rose by 9% in 2017 to 4,907, according to data from the International Trade Institute.
That was up from 3,898 in 2016, and the previous record of 4,816.
The US was the top exporter in goods, with exports increasing by $1.5 trillion in 2017.
The UK was second with exports growing by $864 million, followed by Germany with exports rising by $929 million.
China, the world’s largest economy, exported $2.6 trillion worth of goods in 2017 and accounted for more than a third of that.
The US was second at $1,934 billion.
Japan and South Korea were third and fourth in terms of total exports, with each exporting $1 billion.
Canada, Germany, France, and Brazil were the top four destinations for imports in 2017 with each sending more than $200 billion worth.
China’s foreign trade is estimated to be $1 trillion.
The United States is the world leader in foreign trade.
