Why Trump Should Buy Ivanka Trump Trademarks
Trump should buy Ivanka Trump trademarks, according to a new report.
The billionaire’s son, Donald Trump Jr., is working on a deal with the family of a company named Ivanka Trump that sells Ivanka Trump products.
The company is owned by her father’s former business partner, George Papadopoulos.
Papadopolous was indicted on Oct. 10 and pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his efforts to set up a secret meeting between Trump and a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya.
His lawyers are now working on the deal.
The family of Ivanka Trump have been working with the Trump Organization for years to sell her brand of luxury goods, including her namesake products, which include dresses and jewelry.
But the deal has been stalled due to questions over its legality, including the fact that the Trump name has not been trademarked.
The Associated Press has reached out to Ivanka Trump for comment.
Ivanka Trump’s name is not registered in the United States and her family has not filed for trademark protection.
The Trump Organization said in a statement Friday that Ivanka Trump has been working on trademarking her name in the U.S. since 2017 and has been in talks with several companies since 2018.
“We have been in discussions with a number of companies about trademarks and have made significant progress,” the statement said.
“The Ivanka Trump brand is synonymous with beauty, elegance, and style.
The President and his family are committed to continuing to develop and promote this iconic brand.”
The family also owns a brand of clothing called Trump SoHo, which is marketed as a fashion statement.
