A woman has been charged with murdering her husband after he allegedly attacked her with a steak knife.

Police allege Ms Jones, 37, had been in a relationship with Mr Jones for five years.

“It’s not my fault she was in a violent relationship and she got her throat slit,” she told reporters.

Police said the man, a Queensland resident, had not been charged over the incident and was due to appear in the Sunshine Circuit Magistrates Court on Thursday.”

Ms Jones is a mother of two who lives with her parents in the Gold Coast suburb of Gatton.

Police have said the murder was a murder-suicide.

“There is no way that a man would do something like this,” Detective Superintendent Craig Trenholm said.

“The suspect is still at large and we are still looking at him.”
